Big Five Character

A standard Chinese character from a computer encoding of limited set of ca. 13 060 complex characters. This encoding was common use in Taiwan and Hong Kong before digitisation became common in the PRC, and it has been used for the compilation of TLS .

Nota bene:
This character set is being superseded by various versions of the universal Unicode which contains many more characters, and the conversion of TLS to Unicode is in process. When this is done it will begin be possible to enter texts with many rare characters efficiently into TLS.
